E-Commerce Website Design - VistaLab Technologies

The company is a manufacturer of revolutionary pipettes - their product is great, their web pressence - not so much. They decided to update their look, as well as simplify the ordering process (which was manual at the time), so what we ended up with is an ecommerce website.

My Role

Information architecture – there was a lot of content on the previous site, so it was important to distinguish what stays and what goes. My responsibility was also to ensure that their main product was prominently featured and drives customers to purchase it; and finally, once they’ve done so, make sure that the checkout process is seamless and pleasurable.

The patients are immediately displayed a clear path and could choose whether they want to learn more about the doctor, learn about the procedures or make an appointment. In this section there is also an area for doctor’s who would like to submit a referral.

The company decided to use their branded names for types of pipettes they sell. In order to avoid any confusion for new customers, instead of designing a typical dropdown menu, I opted for displaying the image of the product as well.

The product detail page features a custom dropdown with color-coded values for each of the products. Color of the product is in relation to its volume, therefore it made sense to apply the same approach in the design of the dropdown, to make it easy for customers to identify which one they would like to purchase.

The appointment form was strategically placed right under testimonials – giving patients an extra nudge in their decision making process.

The form allowed patients to select their preferred time and day of the week, making it easy for both them and the staff to easily confirm the appointment.

It was extremely important that the financial information be easy to scan and find relevant information. That is why I opted for a simple design with clear headings, and the most important item featured on the right side.
